Toward a Canada of Light
Tues. Nov. 21, 7:30 - 9 PM, ROBSON SQUARE, VANCOUVER, B.C.
WITH: Bruce Powe, Author and Professor of Humanities, York University
Join moderator Hal Wake and his guest Bruce Powe, author and Professor of Humanities, York University as they discuss his newly released book Toward a Canada of Light.
Powe has been called "an original", "visionary", "adventurous", "unclassifiable." He has been praised in the Globe and Mail and the Montreal Gazette (called everything from "way cool" to "a modern day Magellan") and denounced by Barbara Amiel, in Maclean's, as "an intellectual terrorist".
Powe's major works include Outage, a novel, and the non-fiction works, The Solitary Outlaw and A Canada of Light. A Canada of Light, his philosophical work, endures as an influential contemplation of the promise of Canada, in the new transnational electronic sphere. Highly regarded in France, and the United States, it was also praised by Pierre Elliott Trudeau. The Toronto Star said, "A Canada of Light showed us the poetry in the idea of our country".
There will be Q&A with the audience and a book signing. This is a free event open to everyone and pre-registration is required.
